Legacy: what will you leave behind? The saxophone I play in my university’s marching band once belonged to my great-grandfather. He played it - and many other instruments - in numerous professional and recreational bands throughout his life. He passed away when I was only three, but relatives who knew him longer tell me he would have been proud. I carry on his musical legacy not only through my passion for creating music, but also in this physical reminder of his life.
I used photos passed down through my family as a connection between myself and the work. The hands in the bottom right are mine, set in black-and-white to strengthen that connection.
